Babies and Sleep

Babies and SleepBy three months your baby will tend to sleep more at night and stay awake longer during the day. But every baby will be different and some sleep for long periods and some in shorter naps. .Here is a basic guide (but remember each baby is different and the best way to determine if your baby is getting enough sleep is by how alert and happy he/she is when awake.)

Age 3-6 months 2 or 3 days sleeps of up to 2 hours (may wake at least once during the night). Age 7-12 months 2 to 3 hours total during day. Night 6 pm down (perhaps a feed at 10 pm) should sleep until 5 am or later You can help your baby figure out how to put itself to sleep, it is best to put her to bed while she is sleepy but still awake. If she can learn to go to sleep without your involvement, she is more likely to drop off again by herself if she wakes during the night. This means putting her into her bed before she falls asleep on your lap or on the couch.
