Helping your Child Adjust to Child Care

Helping your Child Adjust to Child CareNew childcare arrangements can prove stressful for your little one, So here are a few tips to make the transition into a new pattern a little easier for you all.

Talk to your child about where they will be going and what they will be doing. Begin talking about this well in advance of the actual day and if possible visit the home or centre on a few occasions before acre actually commences. Have some favourite toys or familiar objects to make your little one feel a little more secure.

Arrive early so you have time to settle your child into an activity before you leave and make sure your body language does not display concern. Don't sneak out as the child will be more upset when they wonder where you went. Try to stick to a routine and even at home try and avoid other changes (such as moving from a cot to a bed) while the child is still adjusting to childcare.
